Diamond Musica descends on Byo

RHUMBA outfit Diamond Musica, currently riding high on their new single Diamond Fire, will perform at Bulawayo Rainbow Hotel tonight.

The City of Kings gig is part of the rhumba group’s countrywide promotional tour of their just-released single which reached number three on the Power FM’s charts early this week.

Band leader Pitshou Lumiere is upbeat about tonight’s show.

“Diamond Musica will bring real fire to Bulawayo tonight. Forget about the cold weather because with us, you will get all the warmth you need.

“We promise our fans a show to remember because our fans had been starved of our music for a long time. We are looking forward to the show because Bulawayo is very special to us because we have a huge following here,” said Pitshou.

Diamond Musica, widely regarded as the oldest rhumba group in the country, has brought in dancing queens from the Democratic Republic of Congo to spice up their act including a new dance called Katete Kateteso.

“Our new dance has quickly become very popular with music fans. To create a wider appeal, we have fused our lyrics with local languages so that fans get to enjoy more,” added the Diamond Musica frontman.

Last weekend, they impressed in Kadoma where they shared the stage with Jah Prayzah and Andy Muridzo.

Diamond Musica first attracted national attention at the turn of the millennium with hits such as Amaule.
The group briefly shifted base to South Africa and Tanzania before returning back “home” to Zimbabwe.
