Yadah target ZPC Kariba

YADAH FC are hoping to build on their positive start to life in the top flight league when they host ZPC Kariba in a Castle Premiership match at the National Sports Stadium this afternoon.

Yadah emerged one of the happiest of the newly-promoted sides as they deservedly earned a point against Harare City following goal-less draw last weekend.

In fact, Jairos Tapera’s charges were unlucky not to collect maximum points after they did everything only to be denied by the blunt strike force.

Tapera, who is the former Young Warriors coach, was roped in as the new coach to replace Kuda Masaraure who does not have the minimum qualification of a Caf A licence as required by the Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) for all top flight coaches starting this season and he seems to have already settled to life in the top flight.

Tapera told the Weekend Post that while they are happy with how their season started, he was quick to urge his charges to forget about their last result and focus on the task at hand.

“What matters the most is your next game‚ not your past results. Salvaging a draw in our first game against such a team like Harare City will be a great confidence booster for the team but that’s not playing on our minds‚” Tapera said.

“We are just looking at every game as it comes and right now our focus is on ZPC Kariba and we are hoping to get a result from the match.”

Tapera, however, reckons that it will not be an easy match and has called for maximum concentration from his boys.

“ZPC Kariba is one of the strongest teams in the league with a seasoned coach in the name of Sunday Chidzambwa,” added Tapera.

“We know what we are coming against and it will not be an easy match. It’s definitely going to be a tough match and we need to be focused throughout the match. We can only gauge our strength when we play teams like this and we are looking forward to the challenge.”

Yadah is not short on experience as they boast of players like the former Dynamos trio of Trymore Mtisi, Brian Mapfumo and Milton Makopa who played an important role in the team’s promotion into the premiership.

They also roped in Wellington Kamudyariwa from FC Platinum, Brian Chikwenya who signed from Bulawayo City, Moses Gutu from How Mine, Munyaradzi Diro-Nyenye and Tafadzwa Dube both from Harare City while Moses Demera joined from Chicken Inn.

On the other hand, ZPC Kariba will be desperate to maintain the winning streak after starting the season with a 1-0 victory over How Mine at Nyamhunga last weekend.

The premiership will switch into full swing tomorrow with more matches across the country.
