Duo rape 4-year-old neighbour

TWO Waterfalls men who waylaid their four-year-old neighbour before taking turns to rape her appeared in court this week.

Dickson Chimhete, 24, and Bonwell Madzora, 21, of 16276 Stoneridge Park, Waterfalls in Harare appeared before Harare magistrate Bianca Makwande charged with rape.

They were remanded in custody and advised to apply for bail at the High Court because they are facing a third schedule offence.

Chimhete and Madzora will be back in the dock on September 21 pending finalisation of the matter.
Prosecutor Peter Kachirika alleged that on August 5 this year around 3pm the complainant was playing with her friends when one of the accused persons called her.

It was alleged that the toddler complied and was led into Chimhete’s house. The court heard that one of the accused persons carried the minor to their bedroom and lay her on the bed before forcibly removing her underwear.

It was further alleged that Chimhete was the first to lower his trousers before forcing himself on the minor while Madzora allegedly looked on.

After the act, Madzora also took his turn to rape the girl and told her not to reveal the incident to anyone, especially her mother.

The minor left the room and went to her house but did not tell anyone about the incident that day.
The following day, she confided in her mother and the two proceeded to file a police report against the duo.
Chimhete and Madzora were subsequently arrested. —Tarisai Machakaire
