'Batman v Superman' falls short of expectations

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
Director: Zack Snyder
Cast: Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Jesse Eisenberg, Amy Adams

THE merging of Batman and Superman in one movie was hyped to be one of the greatest comic matrix of all time but the production fell far from expectations.

The whole time I was sitting waiting for the wow factor that never came. The script seemed to be all jumbled up, and there was a lot happening in one place. It was hard to follow events and hard to comprehend.

Unlike Marvel’s Avengers which has a clear storyline, Batman v Superman seems to have many things crammed in one film, maybe some aspects should have been left out.
As someone who has been following Gotham the series, I expected the same thrills which never came.

The movie has a lot of senseless destruction of property, violence and few witty lines. Humour is the basis of any good comic movie and its lack thereof just left things looking bland.

The casting was okay, with Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, what was lacking was a great storyline.
Linking Metropolis and Gotham was a good plot, just as Avengers linked different worlds together but the packaging was off.
Only two cities presented so much chaos and confusion on otherwise great superhero characters.

The villain, Lex Luther (Jesse Eisenberg) had a few witty lines to bring laughs but it was not enough. Having been advertised as a 3D movie was totally a rip off. There were few parts that on fighting scenes that had the 3D effect but the rest was false advertising.

The coming in of Wonderwoman towards the end, gave a bit of flavour but it was not enough. The whole movie had two grown men trying to prove to each other that they were the better super hero for the whole world.

I will give it a 2/5 for the money that was spent on production (which has been said to be $410 million including marketing) and the casting.

The director wanted to put so many aspects in one movie that if one caught the movie in the middle of screening; they would not be able to tell where the storyline is going.

For non-comic lovers, watching this movie will be a complete waste of time, but loyalists do not see anything wrong with it.
